Summer 2025 Key Events at Cornwall Friends

June:

  • Sunday, June 29th – Worship Sharing Opportunity 12:00pm – 1:00pm
    • This Worship sharing opportunity is created in response to an item discussed during the May Business meeting. Part of the minute is as described:
    • NYYM has joined in a lawsuit to preserve the restrictions on ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents entering houses of worship to arrest persons. The court, which issued a preliminary injunction, also asked for a list of all of the Meetings protected by this. Meetings are being advised to consider policies as to which areas in the Meetinghouse are private areas and during which hours a Meeting is open to the public. The Meeting had an open discussion; from that discussion suggestions were made. One Friend suggested worship sharing to consider what is being advised…

July:

  • Sunday, July 13th – Spiritual Reading Group 9:15am-10:15am
    • For this group topic we will be continuing our discussion from the June reading topic on “Spirit-Led Eldering.”

  • Saturday, August 23rd – ANNUAL SMITHCLOVE MEETING HOUSE CLEANUP, 9:30am-11:30am
    • Location: 43 Quaker Rd, Highland Mills, NY 10930
    • Friends may park on the grass lawn in front of the meeting house.
    • Please read the following details pertaining to this location and & event:
      • There are no bathroom facilities or running water available at this site.
      • Friends interest in volunteering with this event at this historical site are invited to bring any of the following supplies: Window washing (spray/towels), cleaning cloths, a vaccume cleaner, an extention chord, broom or dust pan, a gallon of water.
    • Please note that the time & date for this event can be subject to change.
  • Sunday, August 24th, ANNUAL SMITHCLOVE MEETING HOUSE – MEETING FOR WORSHIP, Beginning at 11:00am
    • Location: 43 Quaker Rd, Highland Mills, NY 10930
    • Friends may park on the grass lawn in front of the meeting house.
    • Please read the following details pertaining to this location and & event:
      • Meeting for worship begins at 11am
      • There will be No Virtual Meeting availble at this time.
      • There are no bathroom facilities or running water availabe at this site.
      • Please let us know in advance if children will be attending Meeting.
      • There is no wheelchair accessible ramp available at this location. If friends with physical limitations are in need of supports, please contact us in advance.

Summer 2025 Key Events Outside of Cornwall Friends

June:

July:

  • Thursday, July 17th through Monday, July 21st – Art Installation at the Meetinghouse for Upstate Art Weekend
    • Aurora Robson, an attender of our Meeting will be installing an art installation on site of the Cornwall Meetinghouse.
    • The installation will be in the front tree next to the meetinghouse. It is made from decomissioned highway safety drums and lit by solar power.
    • The installation is part of the Upstate Art Weekend occuring in the area.

    • There is no charge to see the exhibit.
  • Friday, July 25th to Wednesday, July 30th – NYYM Summer sessions
    • Save the Dates!
    • Summer Sessions will be hybrid: online and in person at
      • Oakwood Friends School – 22 Spackenkill Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
    • Our theme will be “Dare to Hope! Dare to Heal! Dare to Witness!”
