Fall 2026 Key Events at Cornwall Friends

October:

  • Sunday, October 11th, 2026 – Spiritual Reading Group Meeting. 9:15am-10:15am
  • Sunday, October 18th, 2026 – Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business. Begining at Noon
    • **NOTE** Time change. Meeting for Worship with a concern for business will continue to start at noon untill after the Spring Equinox.

November:

  • The Worship Sharing Opportunity has been canceled for the month of November due to Quarterly Meeting hosted at New Paltz. These sessions will continue in the month of December and on the first Sunday of each month, starting at 12noon.
  • Sunday, November 8th, 2026 – Spiritual Reading Group Meeting. 9:15am-10:15am
  • 🍂🍂 Fall Cleanup at Cornwall Meeting House 🏠🍂🍂 Saturday, November 14th, 9:30am-11:30am
    • Usually on a selected Saturday after the leaves have fallen off the trees.
    • Typical suggested supplies:
      • Working Clothes, Tarps, Rakes, Work Gloves, Sponges/Cleaning Cloths, Indoor Cleaning Supplies, baking soda.
    • Rain Date: TBD
  • Sunday, November 15th, 2026 – Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business. Begining at 12noon

December:

  • Sunday, December 6th, 2026 – Worship Sharing Opportunity. 12:00pm-12:45pm
    • Ministry and Counsel will be hosting a Worship sharing opportunity on the first Sunday of each month. for approximatetly 30-35 minutes.
    • The topic of focus for December is on New York Yearly Meeting (NYYM) statement on Quakers Discern Genocide is Occurring in Gaza and Urge Courageous Action (See Attachment)
    • Friends are asked to read in advance and consider the NYYM statement.
  • No Spiritual Reading Group Meeting this month. We will meet again in January.
    • Due the busy season the Spiritual reading group will take a break in December. Friends can read ahead for the January Meeting and access the reading posted in the calendar.
    • Suggestions for future readings are welcome, please reach out to a group member if you have a selection in mind.
  • Meeting for Worship with a Concern for Business. (DATE TBD) Begining at 12noon

  • MidHudson Quakers Quilting Project – Multiple Saturday Dates 9:30am Noon
    • Location 22 Spacekenkill Road, Poughkeepsie, NY
    • Saturday, October 17th
    • No sewing or quilting experience necessary.

November:

  • Sunday, November 1st – Quarterly Meeting hosted by New Paltz
    • Meeting for Worship: 10:30am-11:30am
    • 8 N Manheim Blvd, New Paltz, NY 12561
    • Time for Hospitality
    • The program will begin at 12 noon

  • Tuesday, November 24th, 2026 Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service
    • Traditionally this event occurs on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving in the evening. 
    • This Year’s Location and Time: TBD
    • Collection & Donations Accepted:
      • Historically a collection is taken that benefits a specific charity determined by the committee members of the Thanksgiving Service. This might also include a shelf-stable food donation taken for local food pantries.
      • Typical items often sought out by food pantries include proteins like canned tuna, chicken, or protein pastas.
    • An Ecumenical Thanksgiving service is a Thanksgiving celebration that brings together different Christian denominations or faith traditions for a shared worship experience. It emphasizes unity and gratitude, often focusing on themes of thankfulness for blessings, creation, and the bonds of community, while also highlighting the importance of interfaith relations. These services may include prayers, readings, music, and shared rituals from various traditions.
